GreatJoy Ndlovu started painting at a tender age and later developed a passion at Cyrene High School in Matobo, Matabeleland South where he completed his secondary education. He specialises in doing paintings for people and other inanimate aesthetic cultural values of life in Africa.
GreatJoy’s paintings focus critically on the different emotional behaviors and expressions which are influenced by varying socio-economic factors we encounter in our daily lives.
His subject matter basically evolves around emotions, motion and expression. GreatJoy said “I converge realism and abstraction to capture certain emotional elements using texture, lines , colours , shape and form.” He adds “I value emotion and show this in my paintings. The manifestation of my ideology is based on everything i see , feel and experience.”
In his work he shows the subject matter of each body of work which determines the materials and forms of his work. Through research and production, new areas of interest arise leading to his next body of work.
